Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth

The Friends of Abingdon Abbey Buildings Trust is saddened to learn about the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

From February 1952 when she became Queen, Her Majesty’s life has been dedicated to serving our nation and the people within it. As the longest reigning monarch, her presence has been a comfort and source of strength in a rapidly changing world. Her dedication and hard work during her reign will not be forgotten and will remain as a source of inspiration. 

The Unicorn Theatre was named to celebrate Her Majesty's coronation in 1953, when it opened. The stage still proudly bears her cypher.
